Welcome to Barkey Chemist, an independent pharmacy that has been established for over a 100 years, located in the heart of Gloucester.

About us

The current pharmacist, Arvind Patel has been operating the Chemist since 1978, and has recently celebrated his 30th anniversary. The Chemist is a family run business, offering a high standard of personal care and attention.

Arvind works alongside our friendly, helpful and experienced team of trained staff to provide the quality and high standard of service we would expect to receive from others.

The business has gone through a number of building improvements since 1978. The original chemist was some 400 sq ft and is now in excess of 1800 sq ft, with a private consultancy room for the benefits of its customers.

Electronic prescription dispensing

From early 2009, the NHS will be introducing an electronic prescription dispensing service, where patients will be able to nominate a specific pharmacy where any prescriptions they receive will be transmitted.

Each prescription can then be dispensed and either collected from our pharmacy or delivered directly to the patient’s door for maximum ease and convenience.

Monday - Friday: 9.00am - 1.00pm & 2.15pm - 6.00pm
Saturday: 9.00am - 1.00pm
